Level 2 Rowing Starts Monday – Restrictions Apply

Rowing At Level 2

  • Club open for groups of up to 10 rowers at a time
  • Booking essential
  • Kitchen, lounge, changing rooms and showers closed
  • Stay home if you are sick

Dear Members,

In line with Auckland’s move to Covid-19 Alert Level 2 at 11:59 pm on Sunday 30 August, the Auckland Rowing Club will implement the following measures to ensure we can row safely under level two guidelines. It is most important that we take all practicable steps to keep groups small, limit contact, practice good hygiene and support contact tracing. With that in mind, until further notice, the following measures apply to everyone using the Club’s facilities – club, representative, school, university and masters rowers and owners of private boats.

Health and hygiene

  • Do not come to the Club if you are sick. See a doctor. Get tested.
  • Do not row with any form of blister or open wound.
  • Check in each time you row via the QR code for the Government’s contact tracing app
  • Follow government guidelines regarding hygiene and social distancing.
    • Stay 2m away from other groups
    • Do not share water bottles
    • Sanitise or wash your hands before you row
  • After rowing thoroughly wash oar handles with soap and water, in addition to the usual washing protocols.

What is open and who can attend?

  • The boatshed is open. The men’s and women’s toilets are open.
  • The kitchen, changing rooms, and lounge are closed
  • The gym is open for pre-booked sessions only. Please book through Caspar: caspar.coxing@gmail.com
  • The showers are closed until further notice
  • The Club is not open to non-members: no guest rowing, no visitors, no parents of school rowers. Parents collecting rowers should stay in their cars and message on arrival.

How can we row?

  • Rowing sessions need to be organised and crews pre-arranged before arrival at the Club.
  • A maximum of 10 people, including coaches / coxes may row together in a session.
  • Each 10-person bubble must keep away from other bubbles: no off-water contact. Crews in different bubbles may train alongside each other on the water by keeping a safe distance. No swapping rowers between boats.
  • ARC has established a schedule of bookings and has contacted the relevant coach / organiser to set out when you can row. Any queries about rowing times should be directed to your coach or programme organiser. Please keep within your allocated time slot
  • ARC has also been divided into Zones to allow multiple bubbles at the clubhouse at the same time. You must stick to your allocated Zone.
  • To minimize contact activity:
    • Arrive promptly and get onto the water so that the next group can start on time.
    • Remain in your zone while you are at the Club.
  • Leave promptly once you have cleaned and stored your boat

School rowers

  • Each school is responsible for the management of its own groups of rowers
  • School rowers are encouraged to use the club’s QR Code for contact tracing, implementing their own methods for those without mobile phones
  • School rowers may not use any Club facilities other than those in their own zone, except for the toilets (see below)
  • Rowers from different schools and part of different bubbles must stay at least 2 metres from one another.
  • Prepare and clean boats in your zone only.
  • Please limit the use of toilets. We operate a ‘one in, one out’ policy.
  • Do not use the changing rooms and showers.

Club and Masters rowers

  • Club rowers: coaches will organise your weekend training bubbles.
  • Weekday training on the water in a club rowers’ slot must be pre-booked with Caspar
  • Masters: Arrange crew makeup via Team App before rowing
  • Arrive and leave promptly by the scheduled time
  • Prepare and clean boats in Zone 1 only  http://theaucklandrowingclub.org.nz/covid-19-zone-poster/
  • Casual rowing is permitted after 8:30 am on weekdays and after 11:00 am on weekends. Please email the custodian, caspar.coxing@gmail.com, to book a session.
